My Makeup Inspiration Part One: Lisa Eldridge

From a young age I was always fascinated by cosmetics. My first makeup memory is doing my mams makeup in my grandmother's bathroom and being so serious about it despite the fact I was only four years old. As I got older my love for cosmetics never faded and whilst (like many teenagers) I had some serious makeup faux pas (I'm looking at you bottle of foundation ten shades darker than my own skin tone) I slowly learned about the In's and outs of makeup through various mediums YouTube, being the most prominent.

I was looking at YouTube makeup tutorials for a while but had a complete Epiphany the day I discovered Lisa Eldridge's YouTube channel.

An acclaimed international makeup artist in the business 20 years, she has done makeup looks for covers and spreads in Elle, Vogue, Instyle and many more. She has also worked on advertising campaigns for some of the biggest fashion houses in the world including Chloe, Prada and Alberta Ferreti. She also boasts her own YouTube channel, Blog and is creative director of 'No 7' cosmetics. Pretty impressive eh?

Her YouTube videos taught me how to use makeup creatively, effectively and correctly. She has taught me that makeup is an art and that you don't have to cake on makeup to make you feel good, its all about natural beauty.

But most importantly Lisa Eldridge has taught me that nothing is impossible, that if I want to do the covers of Elle and Vogue I can but that it just might require a lot of work and a hell of a lot of dedication.

So thank you Lisa, For not only teaching me how not to look like an oompa loompa but for teaching me I can have the career I want with a lot of work and a lot of dedication.

  1. Lisa Eldridge is AMAZING. I first learned about her via Chanel last year (late, I know) but when I started watching her tutorials I let out a huge sigh. FINALLY, I'd found an artist who loved to experiment with looks but also understood that where/what you were doing dictated the looks you should go for. I hate what reality TV has done for beauty-so many think that you have to wear gobs of makeup to look pretty, not understanding that 99% of the heavy-handed looks are done so because of print, film, and tv cameras; it's not for every day. Lisa shows you how to have fun, but to still let YOUR personality and individual beauty shine through.

I hope that one day she writes a book!
